You can do anything, but you can’t do everything.
We're a small studio of principal product and engineering partners, embedded in your team. We shape the product and write the code, so the judgment you’d bring to every decision shows up even when you can’t.

To product and engineering teams, from seed to enterprise.
AI made it easy to ship. It didn’t make it easy to know what’s worth building.
You’re stretched across more than any one person can hold, and now there’s AI on top of it.
Your team is standing up tools, harnesses, and workflows faster than anyone can step back and ask which ones are actually worth it. Some of it genuinely helps. Some is busywork that looks like progress. And some is under-reviewed code already in production, costing you customers you’ll never hear from.
The hard part isn’t going faster. It’s keeping your team pointed in the right direction.
That’s the work we do. We sit with your team and help you tell the difference, AI included.
You can’t hire or automate your way out of a judgment problem. That’s where we come in.
Reach out at any stage. Half-formed is fine. We’re here to help you chart the path forward, not expecting it to be spoon fed to us.
You get three founders, not a hand-off.
We’ve spent decades building products and the teams around them. Every engagement involves the three of us directly. We’re in the room for the early decisions, and still there well after the code ships.
Most engagements start with us sorting out what to build, and more importantly, what not to. From there we work directly with your team to shape the product, write the code, and make complicated things simpler. The goal is a team that’s better at this after working with us, not one that depends on us to keep going.
Clarity on what’s worth building.
We name the problem correctly, then tell you which features to build and which to cut. Sometimes the answer is a focused build. Sometimes it’s a small fix instead of a big one.
Complex things, made simple.
We cut the work down to what needs to exist. Less software, shipped sooner, is usually the better outcome, and we’ll talk you out of a build as readily as into one.
Principled leadership, on day one.
You get the senior product and engineering leadership you’ve been trying to hire, without the year it takes to find and ramp up a new team member. The expensive calls get made well, and your team learns from people who’ve made them before.
AI that actually pays off.
We use these tools every day and help your team put them to work: AI applied where it moves the product forward, with every line it writes reviewed before it ships.
Some of the problems we’ve solved.
Financial Services
Clarifying Beyond Finance’s architecture.
Their monolith-plus-services architecture made planning new work feel like working in the dark. We built FeatureMap to decompose the opaque system into well-defined features leadership could plan against.
Automotive Marketplace
Modernizing the Cars.com stack
Rebuilding Cars.com on Elixir and Phoenix was a ground-up replatform, not a patch job. We designed and built the lead processing pipeline and the financing integration that shipped with the new site.

Scaling Synthesis through a pivot
We came in to unify a fragmented UI behind a design system; the role grew to fill leadership gaps and reshape product planning. We helped them pivot to a new engagement model without losing momentum.

What it’s like to have us on the team.
Go Between jumps into any project or codebase as a ready-made team and hits the ground running. They combine technical excellence with strong communication, integrate into teams and processes well, and lift all boats with the engineers around them.
Ron SmithCTO, Above LendingI can bring them problems, especially the messy ones, and they solve them independently while staying collaborative — no need for detailed direction or excessive oversight. They’ve raised the quality of our deliverables and made our systems more maintainable.
Sergio RabielaSVP of Technology, Beyond FinanceGo Between is adaptable to almost any situation. I can have them dive deep into a complex engineering problem, then put them in front of Fortune 500 executives the next day to deliver a really important pitch. That blend of skills is truly rare — I’d bring them into any opportunity I have.
Fred LeeCTO, Cars.comHow to work with us
Pick the shape that fits.
There’s no set sequence here. Some clients start with a low-risk audit; others jump straight to a monthly retainer or a fractional partner. Every engagement starts where you are, and grows or shrinks according to your needs. Get more detail on what each model entails on the services page.
A monthly retainer
Fixed monthly fee · From $10k
Ongoing senior product and engineering work at a fixed monthly fee. We join the roadmap conversations, take on the projects you can’t get to, and ship design and code that delivers value for your business.
An embedded team
Billed hourly · Let’s talk
All three of us inside your team: your tooling, your process, and 20–30 hours a week from each of us. It’s the shape for work that has to run in your environment, at your pace. We can run one or two at a time, so embedded work is subject to availability.
A scoped project
Fixed price · Scoped together
A prototype week, an MVP we build and then maintain, or a piece of work with clear edges. We put a flat price on it before we start. It can begin as small as a $2,500 audit, and the fee credits toward whatever comes next.
Don’t see the shape you’re looking for?
None of these are packages. Tell us where things stand and we’ll find the shape together.
The things people usually ask.
- We’re not technical. Can you help?
- Yes. Most of our clients don’t have an engineering team, and a lot of the work is figuring out what not to build. You bring the domain; we bring the technology judgment.
- We already have an engineering team. Do we need you?
- Sometimes, sometimes not. We work well alongside existing teams when leadership needs a second opinion, a stuck project restarted, or a tricky architecture decision thought through. We’ll tell you if we’re the wrong fit.
- We’re not sure we’re ready to bring anyone in. What then?
- Email us. Seriously. A 30-minute call costs you nothing, and if the honest answer is that it’s too early, we’d rather say so and reconnect when the time is right than start an engagement where we can’t deliver meaningful value for your business.
- How fast can you start?
- Smaller engagements can usually start within two weeks. Larger projects depend on the scope and our upcoming availability; most start within four to six weeks of signing.
You don’t need it figured out.
A half-formed roadmap, a feature that’s stuck, an idea you haven’t said out loud yet. All fine. Book 30 minutes with one of us and talk it through. Worst case, you leave with a sharper plan.
